I wonder if this is the last picture of 2011 or the first picture of 2012... meh lets just call it both. Happy new year reguardless!
On topic: its a shiny espeon. I wanted to color green fur, thats about it. Lots of messing around on this one trying random things. That jewel was oddly troublesome.
I generally think most psychic types are more evil/deceptive than they might let on. Except drowze, he hides nothing.

He hides nothing? Does it have something to do with his bulk? Never mind. Picture is much more interesting.
I think the jewel looks wonderful. And seeing as it is an opposite colour to the green fur, the gem seems oddly fitting. I certainly couldn't draw it better than you. I take you like to add a little classical realism to any painting, whether the topic is realistic or not. I like that. Makes a Pokemon that normally doesn't suit green look perfect in it. Especially with the swirls of psychic power in the background. Though it's head looks a little ratty. Then again, you mentioned that psychics are deceptive. Which is also associated with rats, snakes and the like. So it does seem fitting.
